Not long ago, I told you guys about a paragraph that highly impacted me when I first cracked open the book Rising Strong by Brene Brown.
It was profound, it felt like it was written specifically for me and it made me reflect over my whole situation.
As I went through the book, I stumbled across some good inspiration, some quotes I loved and even some more things that I related to.
But I have a confession….
I didn’t finish the book!
Are you judging me? I sure hope not.
Here’s the thing, I was rushing and stressing and almost felt like was cramming to finish the book, and I even let myself stumble into May trying to finish. And then I just quit.
I concluded that just like sometimes people are around for reasons, seasons, and lifetimes, some tangible things are only intended to give you a token, a nugget or a whole lesson.
This book, in this time, gave me a nugget. It was a significant one though, and I am good with that. If you want to check out the nugget you can find it here.some things give you a token, a nugget or a whole lesson... #risingstrong Click To Tweet
While I don’t doubt that I will pick up the book at a later time and start over and finish it through to completion, now just isn’t the time.
For now, I am convinced, I got just what I needed from it in this season.
I finally put it down and even stopped listening to the audiobook, (yes I was doing both), and concluded that it’s ok to shelf it for the time being.
See this whole journey is about way more than just reading books. It truly is a growth journey, one where I am learning things about me and the world around me, drawing conclusions, making and implementing changes and literally feeling myself stretch.
So with all that said, I am still Rising Strong even though I didn’t technically finish.
Here is the thing, you can too, and here are a few ways you can:
- Find things that motivate you
- Be ok, with letting things go that don’t help you to mind your energy
- Find opportunities to grow through things
- Give yourself grace
