Losing weight is one of the hardest things for me. Behind motherhood it just may be my next biggest struggle.
And close behind that is actually maintaining my weight when I reach an optimal place.
I shared with you last month that I am setting out on my fitness journey. A journey to not only lose weight, but then to maintain it.
Finding the delicate balance between eating what I want but limiting how much. That is the struggle of my life!
I truly believe you can lead a healthy lifestyle and maintain a healthy weight, as long as you understand what moderation is and put it into practice.
Last month I was trying to recover from my holiday weight gain; because I used no parts of moderation over the holidays. I am happy to report I am still moving in the right direction. What I am not happy about is it feels like it is at the pace of a turtle. But I am remaining faithful to the journey until I reach the finish line.
As I was trying to figure out the accountability piece, I came across the faithful finish lines program. I figured what better way to remain accountable than to incorporate my faith into it.
Faithful Finish Lines is an online faith and fitness program for women. The 7-week program, gives you access to the private members-only area of the Faithful Finish Lines website, a Facebook community group, live chats, all to help encourage you to achieve your specific fitness and healthy eating goals. Oh and it requires that you set a real life goal to get started.
Mine is to participate in the 5K Color Run this year.
I just love that it infuses faith into the fitness journey. Two things that are super important to me!
In addition to the Faithful Finish Lines program, here is the update and details on what I’ve been doing and the progress I am making. You can check out last month’s post to see where I was at the end of the month if you are interested.
Here is where I am:
This is where I was starting from in December before my family came for the holidays. So I am excited to be moving forward.
I workout between 3-5 days a week. Usually attending a class like Step or Zumba. Some days I go and get in a slight cardio/weights combo if I don’t attend a class. But my preference is to make working out not feel like working out.
What I am eating
Similar to last month, I am still eating Quaker Oatmeal cups for breakfast, a lean cuisine or something like that for lunch, and then I try to make a healthy dinner that is cool for the whole family. I still have to feed the people.
I have still been using the weight watchers program sporadically but I may cancel my membership and go back to MyFitnessPal to track my exercise, food and water intake. It’s free and I like some of the features for tracking that Weight Watchers does not offer.
One of my favorite low points, packed flavor and filling meals is the Fat Flush Soup. Some people do it a week at a time to help them flush out and cleanse before starting a new diet or changing eating habits. It doesn’t sound great, but after tasting it at a friends home last year during a fast, I was hooked. Hubby actually declares how good it is every single time he has a bowl!
I have made this a couple times in the last couple months. I have included the Fat Flush Soup Recipe (how I make it) below, if you wanna give it a try.
My current struggle(s)
My main struggle is that I have bad knees. They sometimes limit how good of a workout I can get in. I really just have to listen to my body. So there you have it! I may be making turtle progress but it is PROGRESS. So cheers to making progress.
