As I watched the video from my wedding, the pastor, who happens to be my brother in law, stressed how important it was to keep people out your business. And he is soooo right.
He and my sister-in-love have a beautiful marriage and a greater testimony. But what they don’t have is people all up in they ish.
BUT the reality is you are gonna need a few people. And I mean just a few extra people in your marriage.
You read that right. There are people, besides your spouse, that every couple need in marriage.
That is not to say your marriage is doomed if you don’t or you disagree, but it is my belief that you do. Let me tell you who and why.
Marriage is a journey. A lifelong one if you do it right.
Like any other phase in life, or relationship, it will get hard. I mean being with someone day-in and day-out is a bit much. Shoot I even get on my own nerves, so you know my hubby does every now and again too.
If you factor in people growing and changing, bills, kids, and extended family. Any one of those is a reason cited for many-a-divorce.
You follow what I’m saying??
Here’s who you gone need in marriage
This is a couple that you do life with. A guy your hubby can talk to, a chick you can chat with. Someone you can call and say “maybe if you talk to him/her”.
It doesn’t mean you share your whole everything. But you do share you some things and you hold each other accountable to your vows.
Instead of hearing, “giiiiiirrrrrrrl I’d file for divorce”. You hear, “girl listen, think about it this way. Now how can you approach it”.
The voice of reason if you will.
This one actually counts for two people if we being technical.
This one is a must for me. And it can go hand in hand with the one above, or be someone separate.
But marriage is a biblical union. Regardless of what the world has allowed it to become. And sometimes the only thing that is gonna makes it work is some prayer and the hand of God in that thang.
Find you someone you are comfortable praying with and for.
The opposite of being wise is being a fool. And a fool is someone who thinks they can do it on their own.
You need someone who has been there and done that. Someone who can send you back home when you ready to pack yo half of the room up.
And let me say, for everyone, it won’t be ya momma.
Some of us it may be. Many it will not. Just accept that.
Marriage is a commitment. A life long commitment.
I jokingly tell my hubby, “somebody gotta die outta this, so what we gone do”. I just be playing, but I be serious. Lol
We need help with committing sometimes. Staying down for the cause. Sometimes the little person on our shoulder says girl your best option is to go. We need help and reminders that running from stuff is not your best option and to remind you of what you signed up for.
Don’t think you signed up? Think about what all you said I do to. Interject your issue, problem or whatever, and I bet you it aligns in one of those things.Marriage is hard. If it was easy, Every one would do it, and stay married. Click To Tweet
Marriage is a great example of what love looks like.
It’s purpose is to glorify God. Your marriage is a ministry whether you are a minister or not. So go get you your people.
