What if I told you that there is impact in your growth?
That there is some one, some where that will see you and your growing pains and be inspired to set out on a journey and go past their own pains to also grow.
Would you set out on a journey to being better, if you knew that you could change more than just your own life in doing so?
When I was younger, I had a family friend that I looked at as a little sister. The little sister I always wanted but my mother failed to give me. But that is another story for another day.
She was about 5 years younger than me, and at that time, 5 years was A LOT.
I would go get her and bring her back to my college apartment to spend weekends and time off from school with me and hangout.
I’d admit that at times, I probably was not the best influence. I means after all I was in my early twenties, those times are, well, when you are probably the most “dangerous”, at least I was. lol.
As I grew older and “grown up life” started to set in for me, primarily with the birth of my daughter, we kinda had distance grow between us.
Because our families were close, I would always hear about her, and even run into her now and again.
I saw her being young and free and even making bad decisions, just as I had. Sometimes I envied her for it, for having the freedom to be in that space. But others, I just wanted to save her from herself because I had gotten older, and presumably wiser.
I never intervened though. I would just talk to her when I would see her, ask probing questions, give non-judgmental advice and hopefully plant seeds of positivity to bear and grow better fruit than the seeds I probably planted early on.
Now fast forward 12 years later, and a few months ago, I randomly get a card in the mail from her after a random visit when she was in my neck of woods.
The card told me how much I encouraged and inspired her, and how she loved the woman that I had become and who and what she was watching me grow into. There is impact in your growth! #growthjourney Click To Tweet
I cried like a baby when I read that. I was in the middle of one my own times of feeling useless and even a bit hopeless in my circumstances, and that small gesture of kindness changed my whole everything that day.
What if I told you, that your growth has impact?
That there is someone needing you to grow to motivate and inspire them into being their best self.
Even when you feel useless, you are being used to touch the lives of people around you. You get to chose in what way you impact them through your decisions.
Would you put in the work, even when it got hard, if you knew that there is an impact waiting to happen as you grow?
You see, all I had been doing was living my life. I was trying really hard to grow and be better, but often times feeling like I was failing at everything and good at nothing.
But in the middle of me feeling that way, I was inspiring her to get it together, walk in who God created her to be and to truly love herself and make choices that reflected it.
By no means did I do it on my own and have sole accreditation for it, but the seeds that we plant in the lives of others get further fed and nourished along the way.
All it takes is for you to plant a seed.
I dare you to take the challenge and grow. To move forward when it feels hard, to make progress instead of pursuing perfection and to make forward moving steps towards being your best self.
This is what Your Growth Journey is all about. Choosing to grow and be better, and motivating others to do it too whether you realize it or not!Even when you feel useless, you are being used Click To Tweet
